Mobile manipulator performance measurement towards manufacturing assembly tasks

Mobile manipulator performance measurement research is relatively minimal as compared to that of robot arms. Measurement methods, such as optical tracking systems, are useful for measuring the performance of mobile manipulators, although at a much higher relative cost as compared to artifacts. The concept of using test artifacts demonstrates to potential manufacturers and users of mobile manipulator systems that relatively low cost performance measurement methods exist. Evaluation of radiated EMI in 42 V vehicle electrical systems by FDTD simulation

In this paper a full 3D numerical scheme, based on the finite difference time domain method, is used to predict the electromagnetic radiated interference generated by 42 V vehicle power electronic driven electrical loads. An experimental set-up has been arranged on purpose in order to validate the proposed simulation tool. Assessment of clogging in constructed wetlands by saturated hydraulic conductivity measurements

Abstract This study aims at defining a methodology to evaluate Ks reductions of gravel material constituting constructed wetland (CW) bed matrices. Several schemes and equations for the Lefranc's test were compared by using different gravel sizes and at multiple spatial scales. The falling-head test method was implemented by using two steel permeameters: one impervious (IMP) and one pervious (P) on one side. Comparison of thermal expansion of wood and epoxy adhesives

Epoxy-based adhesives are used both in the consolidation of decayed timbers and for new structural joints. Investigating the compatibility of wood and epoxy adhesives provides a better knowledge of the long-term behaviour of wood-epoxy joints. Besides mechanical compatibility, also temperature-related parameters are relevant in this context. A lap joint simulant laboratory test method of aluminium alloys

A lap joint simulant cavity (LJSC) with a gap thickness of 200 μm has been developed to test corrosion of assembled coated aluminium alloys. The LJSC was instrumented with electrodes allowing simultaneous pH and potential measurements in 0.5 M NaCl solution. Assuming the outer part of the LJSC is electrochemically inactive (painted sheet) it was confirmed that in free corroding conditions the pH inside the LJSC tends more towards alkalinisation. On the opposite, if the outer part of the LJSC is electrochemically active (unpainted sheet) the pH inside the LJSC tends towards an acidic value.

A shear test for structural adhesives used in the consolidation of old timber

A test method was developed specifically for structural adhesives used in thick joints. It is based on compressive shear loading of glued joints (GJ) and solid wood (SW) specimens, before and after a suitable accelerated ageing cycle. The evaluation of results is based on the ratios of wet strength to dry strength and on the comparison of GJ specimens to SW specimens which are prepared from the same batch of wood, in order to minimise the influence of the variability in wood characteristics.
